Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn't my Aqara Motion Sensor detecting motion?
This usually happens when the sensor’s PIR window is blocked, the room is too warm, or the motion cooldown interval is set too high. Try adjusting the mounting angle, reducing the detection interval in your platform settings, and making sure nothing is obstructing the sensor’s view. A weak Zigbee signal can also delay motion reporting, so placing a Zigbee repeater nearby may help.
Sometimes the Aqara Motion Sensor goes offline. What do I do?
Offline issues are often caused by weak Zigbee mesh coverage or interference from nearby Wi-Fi channels. Move the sensor closer to a Zigbee router device or add a mains-powered Zigbee repeater to strengthen the network. Removing and reinserting the battery can also help the sensor rejoin the network if the connection times out.
Is there any way to reset the Aqara Motion Sensor?
Yes. Press and hold the small pairing button on the side of the sensor until the LED begins to flash. This resets the device and puts it back into pairing mode so you can reconnect it to your Zigbee hub or coordinator. If the sensor remains unresponsive, remove the battery for a moment before repeating the reset.
How do I know if the Aqara Motion Sensor is working properly?
You can check functionality by walking in front of the sensor and confirming that motion events appear in your app or automation logs. The LED indicator may also blink during pairing or activity, depending on the model. If motion triggers consistently and reports show up in your platform, the sensor is functioning correctly.
What is the detection range?
The sensor offers a wide field of view and can detect movement up to several meters, making it suitable for bedrooms, hallways, and shared spaces.
